Members of Horsham Athletic Club recently received a very good reason to extend their memberships: a new tenant by the name of Healthy Solutions Medspa, led by Michael C. Luciano, D.O. Even though Healthy Solutions Medspa is based within Horsham Athletic Club, the medspa is open to all prospective clients, not just members.
Just a short drive from Dr. Luciano’s primary-care office in Ivyland, Healthy Solutions Medspa comprises 1,000 square feet of ornately designed space that includes two treatment rooms, a lobby and a reception area. Here, he and his staff of aestheticians and other professionals—including the practice director, Inna, who is Dr. Luciano’s wife—offer various services to help patients improve their health, wellness and overall aesthetics.
Originally from Orange County, Calif., Dr. Luciano attended medical school at Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California. He completed his residency in family medicine at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in San Bernardino, Calif., and later moved to the East Coast with Inna, who is a native of the Philadelphia area. Dr. Luciano established a thriving family practice in Ivyland and quickly received high praise from patients and the likes of the Intelligencer, which several times recognized him as “Best Individual Physician” as part of its Best of Bucks-Mont Awards. He has also earned the “Patients’ Choice Award” multiple times, as well as “Compassionate Doctor” certification, from Vitals.com.
Over the years he noticed a steady increase in the number of patients who needed his help not only with everyday health concerns but also with lifestyle improvements, such as weight loss, so he began educating himself regarding new modalities that might help patients look and feel better. After seeing his patients experience significant positive results with weight loss, he wanted to offer them something more when diet and exercise alone would not suffice. Healthy Solutions Medspa offers many services, including IPL (intense pulsed light) treatments to reduce the appearance of broken blood vessels, repair sun damage and remove unwanted hair on the face and body; injectables, including Botox and dermal fillers such as Juvéderm, to rejuvenate the face; chemical peels to improve the texture and appearance of the skin; and innovative technologies such as CoolSculpting and Venus Freeze to help tighten the skin and contour the body.
Dr. Luciano describes CoolSculpting as a noninvasive technology that “provides the results of liposuction but without the surgery and with no downtime.” Based on research from two physicians affiliated with Harvard Medical School, CoolSculpting uses a precise and controlled cooling technology that targets fat cells beneath the skin and freezes them to the point of crystallization. Over time the fat cells die, and they are then metabolized and eliminated from the body. Patients typically see results—at least a 25 percent reduction in fat per area per treatment, according to Dr. Luciano—within three weeks of having the procedure done, with the maximum benefit being realized within three months. The procedure is particularly effective in targeting fat cells in the abdomen and other difficult-to-treat areas, such as love handles and muffin tops.
Venus Freeze treatments, meanwhile, are for anyone who feels that his or her appearance could be improved by skin tightening, cellulite reduction and body contouring. The technology delivers radiofrequency and pulsed magnetic fields to the skin, which causes collagen synthesis and contraction. Venus Freeze enables patients to experience a more youthful appearance, and Dr. Luciano advises multiple treatments—a full series of six treatments for the face and eight to 10 treatments for the body—for patients who wish to have optimal results.
